The Auburn Gulf Scholars program, a non-degree scholarship and academic partnership between Auburn University and the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine, is accepting applications from undergraduates.
Students must be passionate about working in an interdisciplinary environment, contributing to a dynamic and engaging peer cohort group and interested in sustainability issues in their field. Applicants must have at least two years left at Auburn to complete the program. Students from all majors are encouraged to apply.
The Gulf Scholars program includes a flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum. All classes count toward the minor in sustainability studies and various other programs on campus. Students will be invited to participate in co-curricular activities, including field trips to the Gulf, movie nights, social events, volunteer opportunities, art gallery openings and change agentry workshops. Each student will be paired with a community partner to complete a sustainability project. Partial scholarship and travel funding is available to those accepted.
Gulf Scholars will be recognized nationally and will earn a Gulf Scholar Certificate of completion by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine. This prestigious national recognition will help students advance their career goals and set them apart from others in a competitive job market.
Interested students can attend an open house via Zoom from 11 a.m.-noon on Feb. 3, 2025. To register and receive the Zoom link, email Trixie Langley at langltd@auburn.edu. Applications for the fall 2025 cohort are now open. The deadline to apply is Feb. 21. Applications are available online.
