Community Quilting Circle “Stitch in the Sun” from 1 pm onwards – Grab a seat, unwind and enjoy hand sewing in the fresh air. Free and open to all skill levels. Bring your own project or use our fabric scraps. Seating and great company are provided! We will have a friendly guide on-site starting at 1:00 PM to help you get set up, teach you the basics, and get those creative juices flowing. No prior experience is needed, and all are welcome to join the circle.
Live Music Emma Dansak & Students at 1:30 pm – Emma Dansak is a professional violinist, string instructor, and local musician based in the Auburn-Opelika area. She performs with the Auburn Community Orchestra, teaches string lessons locally, and plays traditional folk, old-time, and Irish/French fusion music
Movie screening ‘”From the Mountains to the Ocean:Turtles of Alabama” from Southern Exposure Films at 2:30 pm – Alabama is a global hotspot for turtle diversity unmatched anywhere else on the planet. This film explores the “glamorous life of turtles” in Alabama and the special people who spend their time protecting this critical species.
Ecological demo “What’s NEW with Environmental Education in Alabama?” by Dr. Bill Deutsch at 3 pm – Join Dr. Deutsch—an aquatic ecologist, river scientist, and author—for an engaging demonstration on fun, interactive ways to teach Alabama history and natural history using river ecosystems. Win fun prizes during the session!
Food demo & tasting “Brew your own healthy Kombucha” by Ashley and Yulia Spencer at 3:40 pm – Learn to brew fizzy, probiotic-packed kombucha. Get flavor-blending tips, free tastings, and take-home scoby.
Community music jam / open jam at 4:30 pm – Bring your own drum, or use one of ours. Play an instrument. Sing. Dance. Move. Everyone is welcome to participate.
