Why do we assume that technological change — especially in the realm of information technology — is inherently progressive? Who gets to decide what counts as “progress\,” and why? Using <em>The Circle</em>’s dystopian tale of a privacy-free\, technologically-saturated culture of surveillance as a starting point\, Dr. Lucsko will explore the historical relationship between technological change and social\, cultural\, and individual progress.
