Join Wild Science for the March Wild Science talk with Dr. Kelly Dunning!
This talk focuses on Dr. Dunning's recent research in the Cayman Islands where the government plans to destroy an area the size of 10 football fields worth of pristine coral reefs. She will discuss how everyday people are fighting this project, and how the cruise industry is trying to do similar things throughout the Caribbean that will destroy reefs for private corporate gain.
Dr. Kelly Dunning is a Professor of Conservation at Auburn University School of Forestry and Wildlife. Her lab, the Conservation Governance lab, solves problems at the intersection of ecosystems and society. She holds a PhD from MIT, an MSc from Oxford, and is a Fulbright Scholar. She is author of the 2018 book Managing Coral Reefs, which details how low-income communities can work collaboratively to manage coral reefs sustainably.
