The Diabetes Walk is a partnership of the Auburn University Student Dietetic Association (SDA) and the Diabetes and Nutrition Center (DANC) of East Alabama Medical Center.
As many are familiar with the high price of insulin for those with diabetes, the price and quality of life associated with the need for constant glucose monitoring are also of importance.
The proceeds of this walk will help local children with diabetes access continuous glucose monitors as the cost of these monitors per child is roughly $150 per month, or $1,800 per year. These wearable monitors will greatly increase the level of comfort and quality of life for the children who receive them.
Join and walk on Sunday, April 10th at 2:00pm at Kiesel Park. The event will meet at the pavilion and there will be an option between a one-mile or 5K trail.
