Every year, Auburn’s Alternative Student Breaks (ASB) and Black Student Union (BSU) collaborate on a day of service and education to celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, due to COVID-19, there are on-campus and remote options for our MLK Day of Service. All participants must register through GivePulse, and on-campus participants must additionally RSVP for the event on AU Involve.
On-Campus Participants:
12:30 – Students arrive for lunch from Zoe’s Kitchen
12:40 – “A Trip Through History” presentation given by ASB and BSU members
1:00 – Dr. Bernard Lafayette of Tuskegee speaks, Q&A
1:30 – Begin United Way service project
2:30 – Day of Service Ends
Remote Participants:
On-campus participants will be packaging care packages for the Domestic Violence Intervention Center and the residents of EASE House, an apartment community for senior citizens. We will be including friendly letters with words of encouragement in each package. As an alternative, remote participants can email asb@auburn.edu a letter for us to print and include in our care packages. Remote participants will gain 1 hour of service for sending a letter in. Additionally, our Day of Service will be streamed through Eagle Eye for remote participants who wish to watch.
