Magic in Motion: Transportation Planning at Walt Disney World

Join the College of Engineering in an exciting opportunity to heard from Mr. Alan Skaggs on transportation systems at Walt Disney World Resort! He will describe their planning and operational processes\, and highlight career opportunities in a presentation is intended for a wide engineering\, planning\, complex systems and operational research audience. Alan M. Skaggs\, PE\, is responsible for the daily deployment and usage plan for fleet of 386 buses\, 12 monorails and 40 watercraft to efficiently meet Guest needs across WDW property.  In his tenure\, Alan has implemented many Guest service improvement initiatives\, including assessing costs and benefits of each prior to rollout.  Previously\, Alan was a Senior Mechanical Engineer at WDW Resort\, delivering engineering support for multiple attractions.  Mr. Skaggs holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology\, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Central Florida\, and dual Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering and Mathematics from South Methodist University.
