Anila Quayyum Agha, holding an MFA in Fiber Arts from the University of North Texas, will speak on her artistic practice and creative research. Her work has been exhibited in over 17 solo shows and 50 group show. She has won numerous awards and grants- most recently two in the 2014 Art Prize competition with a piece titled 'Intersections' with the Public Vote Grand Prize and split the Juried Grand Prize in a tie. She works in a cross disciplinary fashion with mixed media, making artwork that explores global politics, cultural multiplicity, mass media and social and gender roles in our current cultural and global scenario.
This lecture series is in honor of Auburn alumna Roslyn Brock stern, and her commitment to the arts and education as the first art teacher in the Opelika school system and in helping launch the Opelika Historic Preservation Society, Keep Opelika Beautiful, the Delphi Study Club, and the Arts Association of East Alabama. The Department of Art and Art History acknowledges the support from the Auburn University Senate Lectures Fund.
