DESCRIPTION:In this closing event\\, Dr. Andrea Kelley (Media Studies) will host a discussion with Dave Eggers about The Circle’s adaptation to the screen. The conversation will focus on Dave Eggers’ screenplays and highlight issues involving contemporary screen culture and social media storytelling.\nDr. Andrea Kelley is Assistant Professor of Media Studies in the School of Communication in Journalism. Her research and teaching interests focus on film history\\, screen technologies\\, and representations of race on film. She is the author of Soundies Jukebox Films and the Shift to Small Screen Culture (forthcoming\\, Spring 2018).

SUMMARY:Anti-Oppressive Education Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:The Biggio Center will be hosting a set of anti-oppressive education dialogues. The dialogues will continue through the fall. The initiative will explore experiences with culture in the classroom.
Through open dialogue\\, participants will explore effective methods to incorporate cultural diversity and challenge oppression in the context of discipline-specific teaching needs.
