DESCRIPTION:September is Campus Fire Safety Month and Auburn University is gearing up for the first ever FIRE SAFETY FESTIVAL. RMS team members and volunteers will be set up around campus with games\, giveaways\, and prizes. \nThe Brain Burners Fire Safety Quiz will be on the Haley Concourse. Participants will be asked three questions related to fire safety. Get them right and spin the wheel to win a prize! \nThe Hot Shots Selfie Station will be set up at the Edge at Central Dining. It’s easy to participate. Just snap a selfie and post it on social media or send it to a friend. Once you do\, you win! \nThe Power P.A.S.S. station will be set up in the Melton Student Center. Get firsthand experience fighting fires with our state-of-the-art extinguisher simulator. Once you learn to P.A.S.S. then you’re all set and you win! \nPunch cards will be available at each station. SUMMARY:Climate Teach-In
DESCRIPTION:Teach-ins are meant to inform\, engage\, and inspire action on important issues.  No issue today is more important to our world than climate change\, which impacts everything we care about. \nJoin us to engage with experts on the topics of public health\, environmental justice\, solar energy in Alabama\, and movement building. The speaker and outcomes for participants are outlined below.  \n\nClimate and Public Health speaker Kelly Strickland: Understand the connection between the climate crisis and public health and wellness and learn how moving towards sustainable practices can positively impact public health and increase health equity for all! \nEnvironmental Justice speaker Ryan Thomson: Learn how the effects of climate change do not hit all Alabama’s communities equally. Issues of climate justice reveal stark differences in local impacts and the importance for a collective response that recognizes the needs of all Alabamians. \nSolar in Alabama speaker Daniel Tait: Discover how Alabama compares to its neighbors\, both regionally and nationally\, on clean energy\, and gain an understanding of the utility and regulatory framework in Alabama to provide a foundation for taking action on clean energy in your community and across the state. \nMovement Building speaker Mark Wilson: Move from concern to action with stories and lessons from the American civil rights movement that remain applicable today. \n\nThe Climate Teach-In is open to everyone and registration is requested\, but not required. \nRegister for the in-person event below. \nREGISTRATION IS REQUESTED  \nParking for off-campus guests is located on the top floor of the Stadium Parking Deck located on Heisman Drive in the spaces marked ‘visitor parking’. Please bring your own water bottle. Light snacks will be provided.  \nA virtual version of this event will be hosted by the Sustainability Auburn Alumni Affiliate on Zoom. \nPlease register for the virtual event at: aub.ie/ClimateTeach-In. \nThis collaborative event is co-sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and the National Science Foundation Research Traineeship Program on Climate Resilience at Auburn University and will take place March 22nd from 4:30 – 7:00 PM in the Melton Student Center Ballroom.

SUMMARY:Climate Symposium
DESCRIPTION:At 1pm the AU NSF Research Traineeship (NRT)  will host its inaugural Climate Research Symposium where invited professionals and faculty will give 3min lightning talks on their current and future climate research endeavors. The symposium will include a student poster session on climate-related research. Students can still submit a poster abstract using this abstract submission form until Feb 14th. Registration for the symposium is required.

DESCRIPTION:Join the Involvement Ambassadors as they host the Involvement Fair for the chance to meet many different organizations on Auburns campus. While you mix and mingle with all the different orgs you can enjoy the provided light refreshments as well. All orgs will have tables set up throughout the ballroom where you can ask them questions specifically about what they do and how to get involved with them. This is a come and go event\, we encourage you to show up and meet as many orgs as you can and stay as long as you’d like.
