SUMMARY:The Politics of Climate Change and the Print News Media
DESCRIPTION:Over the last 9 years\\, students in RSOC 5650/6650\\, Sociology of Natural Resources and Environment have been working on a semester-long research project. The project theme this year is the politics of climate change in the print news media.\nThe research examines how the media portrays the relationship between climate change politics and the: (1) causes of dramatic weather events\\, (2) readers’ knowledge\\, (3) promotion of various energy sources\\, (4) migration of environmental refugees\\, and (5) presidents’ use of social media \nThis poster session is an important opportunity for students to present their research to a broad audience. Your interaction with the students will greatly enhance the professional development aspects of this project. The 2017 class includes graduate students from Agricultural Economics\\, Sociology\\, and Rural Sociology\\, as well as undergraduate students from Fisheries\\, Natural Resource Management\\, Sociology\\, Environmental Science\\, Ecological Engineering\\, Interdisciplinary Studies; and Professional and Public Writing\\, several of which are seeking minors in Nature Based Recreation\\, Urban Environmental Sciences\\, Leadership Studies\\, Anthropology\\, Rural and Community Development\\, and Sustainability Studies. Additionally\\, four students from the Honors College are enrolled this year.
