SUMMARY:Current Status and Future of the Cross-Laminated Timber Industry: A Panel Discussion & Reception
DESCRIPTION:The panel discussion explores the outlook and future status of the cross-laminated timber industry. Industry stakeholders\, faculty\, students\, and members of the public are welcome to attend. \nCross-laminated timber\, or CLT\, is a prefabricated wood panel made from wood stacked and glued crosswise in alternating directions to create pressed layers. Due to its numerous economic and environmental benefits\, the use of CLT shows promise for many industries within the southeastern region of the U.S.\, including developers and contractors\, architects and engineers\, and foresters and landowners. \nGuest panelists for the “Current Status and Future Of the Cross-Laminated Timber Industry” panel discussion include industry representatives Derek Ratchford\, CEO of SmartLam\, Dothan\, Alabama\, Jason Reynolds\, senior director\, WoodWorks – Wood Products Council\, and Mike Kensler\, director of Auburn University’s Office of Sustainability. Dr. Adam Maggard\, extension specialist and assistant professor of forest systems management\, will serve as moderator. \nThe reception starts at 2:00 p.m. and the panel discussion is from 2:30 – 4 p.m. Pre-registration is not necessary. Parking will be available on the third and fourth levels of the South Quad Parking Deck.
