SUMMARY:Open House for Bikeway\, Greenway Plan
DESCRIPTION:The City of Auburn will host an open house for Connect Auburn: A Plan for Auburn's Greenways and Bikeways.\nThe goal of Connect Auburn is to identify opportunities for new and improved greenway and bicycling connections throughout Auburn. Interested community members are invited to weigh in on draft recommendations for bike routes and ideas for bike-friendly programs and policies. Staff from the project team will be on hand to answer questions and receive comments. \nThose unable to attend the open house can add comments and suggestions using an online\, interactive mapping tool at connectauburn.com. Users can use the map to suggest where greenway and bikeway improvements are needed in Auburn. \nThe map\, along with general information and plan updates\, is available at connectauburn.com.

SUMMARY:Urban Tree Canopy Assessment Community Meeting & Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Trees improve air quality\\, provide shade\\, decrease erosion\\, and remove pollutants from stormwater. The Alabama Forestry Commission is studying the tree canopy of the City of Auburn to see if we can use more trees to improve our management of stormwater runoff and improve water quality in our rivers and streams. As a part of this process\\, the City of Auburn and the Alabama Forestry Commission need your opinions and ideas\\, and hope you\'ll come share them.\nThe main point of this meeting is to inform the community about the project\\, to gather citizen perception and feedback about tree activities in the City and to get feedback on the tree canopy coverage maps the team has produced. The land cover classification (tree canopy coverage maps) will be briefed\\, as well as an overview of the project and the expected outcomes of the project. \nSome questions asked of you might be:\n<p style=\'padding-left: 30px;\'>1. What is your perception of current tree canopy coverage in Auburn?
\n<p style=\'padding-left: 30px;\'>2. Are there any specific locations which you feel need more canopy?
\n<p style=\'padding-left: 30px;\'>3. Are there any practices (citizen or staff led actions) you would like to see occur in Auburn that aren\'t currently in place?
