SUMMARY:Beat Bama Food Drive
DESCRIPTION:Since 1994\, Auburn University and the Food Bank of East Alabama have united students\, faculty\, alumni\, and community members to help fight hunger and poverty in East Alabama by challenging the University of Alabama and the West Alabama Food Bank to see who can collect more non-perishable food to help those in need. This good-natured competition has made an impact that reaches far beyond the campuses where it began. Since its inception in 1994\, the competition has raised over 8 million pounds of food for Alabamians without proper access to food. Help Auburn win the food fight trophy in East Alabama as they look to beat hunger and BEAT BAMA!! \nContact: bbfd@auburn.edu

SUMMARY:The Marble Bowl: Citizen Science Takes the Field
DESCRIPTION:From September 3 through November 26th\, everyone can participate in the Marble Bowl by submitting observations of wild plants\, animals\, and fungi to one of two projects on the iNaturalist platform. This online site stores crowdsourced\, public observations of biological organisms. Listed below are the necessary steps to participate. \n\nVisit inaturalist.org and sign up for a free account. There is also a mobile application for smart devices.\nFollow the “The Marble Bowl” project to keep up with the current score.\n\nBe sure to join either the “Marble Bowl 2022 – Auburn University” or “Marble Bowl 2022 – University of Alabama” project to ensure your observations count and you’re contributing to the appropriate team. Only join one of the two projects or your observations will cancel each other out.\n\n\nTo document an observation\, you may shoot photos of wild organisms with your cell phone or camera.\n\nBecause cell phone photographs are automatically timestamped and geotagged\, all of the necessary information is already with the photograph when you upload it. If you prefer to take photos with a digital camera\, be sure to note the location and include it with your observation if the camera doesn’t geotag it for you.\n\n\nObservations may be uploaded to iNaturalist through a web browser or the app. As you submit observations\, the platform’s artificial intelligence will suggest an identification based off what is in the photo along with similar species that have already been observed nearby. You are allowed to suggest a different identification if you’re confident about what you saw. Select your species\, and then submit your citizen science observation.

SUMMARY:Hey Day
DESCRIPTION:Dating all the way back to 1947\, students who served in WWII were returning back to normalcy here at Auburn University\, but upon their return\, they felt unseen and unheard here on campus. In response\, Auburn University’s student body and members of the Student Government Association pushed for a day that would unite the Auburn Family and promote a friendly atmosphere known as Hey Day – a day where every student got the opportunity to wear a name tag\, helping everyone feel a sense of belonging. \nEach year\, they carry on this tradition by handing out name tags and encouraging students\, faculty\, and the rest of the Auburn Family to greet one another\, bringing all members of Auburn closer together. Hey Day has become one of Auburn University’s longest\, most cherished traditions and is a day the student body has grown to love and look forward to each year. \nSGA looks forward to engaging the Auburn Family by distributing name tags and handing out Hey Day-branded promotional items. Furthermore\, SGA will also be hosting a festive event on the Campus Green for all to enjoy\, so they invite everyone to join them for a free\, catered meal\, a pep rally performed by the Auburn University Marching Band\, an inflatable obstacle course\, and many special guests. They can’t wait to see you all there!
