DESCRIPTION:Join the College of Liberal Arts at Pebble Hill for the book launch of Auburn: A History in Street Names by Sam Hendrix. As its title suggests\, the stories within this book relate to the origins of street names. But this volume covers much more than that. It tells the stories of the Loveliest Village of the Plain and its people\, street by street\, over nearly two centuries. \nSam Hendrix\, native of Arab\, Alabama\, earned a BA from the University of North Alabama and the M.Ed. from Auburn University. He spent most of his career with Auburn University as a public relations and development professional. He authored a history of the Auburn Church of Christ and a biography of founding Veterinary Medicine Dean Dr. Charles Allen Cary before publishing ‘Auburn: A History in Street Names.’ He and his wife\, Mary Ellen\, live in Auburn. \nBooks will be available for purchase and signing. SUMMARY:Plant Ahead - Tree Planting Preparation
DESCRIPTION:The Kreher Preserve and Nature Center needs your help to remove invasive plants and sweetgum trees in order to prepare the area for an upcoming Tree Planting Event! These plants can hinder the growth of the native seedlings we will be planting in January. \nVolunteers should meet at the Kreher Preserve and Nature Center parking lot. Work will begin at 1:00 PM and end at 3:00 PM\, however\, people can come and go as they please. Please wear long pants\, closed-toe shoes\, and gloves. Extra tools will be provided\, but volunteers are encouraged to bring pruners\, lopping shears\, and small pruning saws if available. Signing up ahead of time is appreciated\, however\, registration day of is accepted as well. \nPlease Sign Up On Givepulse!
