DESCRIPTION:Opelika’s Azalea & Dogwood Trail begins at the corner of 8th Street and 2nd Avenue. Green directional arrows instruct drivers throughout the trail. Directions are also available at the Keep Opelika Beautiful website and the Opelika Chamber of Commerce office. The trial is approximately 5 miles long. \nTwo highlights of the Azalea & Dogwood Trail are Mr. and Mrs. Mike Newman’s residence. With over 800 azalea shrubs\, the yard is a beautiful sight. The other highlight is the Caroline Dean Wildflower Trail. This is a great opportunity to walk through the beautiful flower trail.

DESCRIPTION:The Alabama Floral Trail is open for viewing from March 8 to April 16\, 2021. The Auburn Floral Trail is broken into a 10.5-mile south trail and a 3.5-mile north trail with two optional sections. Wayfinding signs are posted along the north and south trails to help visitors\, cyclists and pedestrians navigate. The trail features common springtime flowers such as azaleas and blooming trees such as pear\, cherry\, and plum trees.

SUMMARY:Hoops for Trees
DESCRIPTION:Hoops for Trees is a green initiative aimed at  increase urban forest canopy\, improve water quality and provide numerous other social\, environmental and economic benefits on the areas across Alabama. Through this tree planting program\, the aim is to bring awareness to Urban Forestry and  help establish the next generation of urban foresters\, arborist and horticulturist as they’re taught how to plant trees correctly and have a little  fun as well.  Planting locations has been selected by city  personnel. Trees will  be planted at Sam Harris Park where the trees will help with a buffer zone\, erosion mitigation\, shade\, wildlife habitat and other benefits are needed. The overall goal with this event is to increase visibility of the urban forest scenario and teach students about selecting and planting trees. \nA basketball game of horse will be played and if you stay in\, you keep playing and if you miss and lose out of the game\, then you go plant a tree.

Halls Professor Emerita at Indiana University Bloomington will discuss Fuller’s travels to the South in the 1850s.  Dr. David Robb of Huntsville\, Alabama will discuss a unique memory drawing donated from his personal collection and now only display at the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities at Pebble Hill.  Ray Radigan\, Curator\, will discuss materials available for researchers at the Memorial Hall Museum in Deerfield\, Massachusetts.

She is currently working on an original book manuscript that focuses on the experience of Black election administrators. Wayne Flynt\, professor emeritus in the Department of History\, editor-in-chief of the Online Encyclopedia of Alabama and author of numerous books including\, Alabama: The History of a Deep South State focuses on Southern culture\, Alabama politics\, Southern religion\, education reform and poverty. \n“Becoming the Beloved Community requires difficult conversations and we are fortunate to have three distinguished perspectives in conversation at this virtual gathering\,” said Mark Wilson\, director of the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities. \nThe Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts creates opportunities for people to explore our individual and collective experiences\, values\, and identities through the creativity of the arts and the wisdom of the humanities.
