DESCRIPTION:The Gulf Scholars program includes a flexible and interdisciplinary curriculum. All classes count toward the minor in sustainability studies and various other programs on campus. Students will be invited to participate in co-curricular activities\, including field trips to the Gulf\, movie nights\, social events\, volunteer opportunities\, art gallery openings and change agentry workshops. Each student will be paired with a community partner to complete a sustainability project. SUMMARY:Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
DESCRIPTION:The City of Auburn is having a spring Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day to gives Auburn residents the opportunity to drop off hazardous materials that are illegal to dispose of during weekly garbage collection. \nAcceptable items include household chemicals\, pesticides\, paints\, batteries\, automobile fluids and more. Computers and electronics will be accepted for recycling\, and there will be a shredder on site to safely and securely get rid of old paper documents. \nParticipants should load the materials they wish to drop off in the trunk or rear of their vehicle. Residents may bring up to 20 pounds of material per household for disposal at no charge. DESCRIPTION:Dr. Clayborne Carson has devoted his professional life to the study of Martin Luther King\, Jr. and the African-American freedom struggle. In 1985\, the late Coretta Scott King invited Dr. Carson to direct a long-term project to edit and publish the papers of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. Under Carson’s direction\, the King Papers Project has produced seven volumes of an ongoing comprehensive edition of The Papers of Martin Luther King\, Jr. In 2005\, Carson founded the Martin Luther King\, Jr. Research and Education Institute to endow and expand the work of the King Papers Project. \nCo-sponsored by the Department of History\, College of Liberal Arts Strategic Initiatives and Programs\, and the Honors College.

They are an Indigenous geographer who focuses on Indigenous cultural and political responses to human-driven climate and environmental change. They also direct the Geographic Indigenous Futures Collaboratory\, an international research group that works with Indigenous communities on geographic-based projects. Dr. Smiles holds a PhD in Geography from The Ohio State University.
