SUMMARY:Rain Barrel Workshops
DESCRIPTION:Community members are invited to attend one of three upcoming rain barrel workshops\, promoting sustainable water use and stormwater management. \nAttendees will receive a free rain barrel to collect and reuse rainwater at home along with tips on how to install\, maintain and troubleshoot potential issues with their new reservoir. They will also learn about the benefits of rainwater harvesting\, including: Conserving water and reducing reliance on City water sources. Reducing stormwater runoff\, which can prevent soil erosion and limit the amount of pollutants that reach our local waterways. \nThose interesting in participating must register ahead of time online. Each workshop will be limited to 15 people. Complementary breakfast and coffee will be provided. For more information\, contact Marla Smith at msmith@auburnal.gov or Matt Wisenden at matt.wisenden@auburn.edu. \nThe event will be at the Nunn-Winston House at Kiesel Park. \nThis event is hosted by the City of Auburn and Auburn University Stormwater and is funded through a grant from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.

DESCRIPTION:Registration is open on RWC Connect: August 18 – October 14 \nJoin Auburn Outdoors for a 2-day\, 1-night backpacking trip to the Pine Mountain Trail. Whether you’re new to backpacking or looking for a low-mileage\, overnight trip with stunning views\, you’ll find community and new experiences on this trip. During this trip\, you’ll wade under a waterfall and hike roughly 10 miles in beautiful Pine Mountain\, GA. Whether it’s your first experience in the backcountry or you’re a seasoned pro\, you’ll find community and new experiences on this trip. A required pre-trip meeting for trip participants will be held on October 14 @ 5 p.m. Transportation\, meals\, camping accommodations\, entrance fees\, and all gear are included in the trip fee.
