DESCRIPTION:OID\, University Outreach and the National Forum for Black Public Administrators is hosting the annual MLK Celebration Breakfast. This year’s theme\, Honoring the Dream: Exploring 21st Century Civic Engagement and Advocacy\, will highlight members of our community who are working to impact social change on the local level. While the experience will be virtual\, tradition will be upheld the tradition of breaking bread together by providing two options for breakfast. Auburn Alumnus Chef Justin Robinson will provide a cooking experience option for all attendees and there will alternatively be an option to purchase and pick-up a breakfast meal provided by local vendors: Lucy’s (locally-owned Auburn Restaurant) or Jahvon’s (locally-owned Opelika restaurant). They have coordinated with the vendors\, to offer key breakfast options. You can select your virtual dining option by visiting the registration website.

DESCRIPTION:The Alabama Coastal Foundation (ACF) is a non-partisan\, non-profit organization with a mission to improve and protect Alabama’s coastal environment through cooperation\, education\, and participation. One of our initiatives is the Green Coast Council (GCC)\, a forum for business and industry leaders who practice and promote environmental sustainability principles. Each year\, the GCC convenes a Sustainability Summit to encourage people in the private\, public\, and social sectors to understand the economic and environmental benefits of using sustainable and resilient business practices. \nPresentations at the 2021 Summit support the theme “Creating Resilient Communities: Intersections of Ecology\, Equity\, and Human Health.” The Summit will take place in real-time using ACF’s secure virtual meeting system and will have two keynote speakers and five one-hour sessions which include time for questions. All presentations should include 1-3 actionable items that attendees can implement at their business\, organization\, or home. \n

SUMMARY:Auburn Research: Faculty Symposium
DESCRIPTION:This year’s “Auburn Research: Faculty Symposium” will be held virtually to recognize the research and creative scholarship of Auburn and Auburn Montgomery faculty. \nThe day will kick off with a welcome by Jim Weyhenmeyer\, Auburn vice president for research and economic development\, followed by prerecorded\, moderated Auburn Talks. The talks will cover four research pillars: improve health and health care in Alabama and across the nation; create intelligent solutions; create a more secure world; and build resilient societies. \nLive Zoom roundtables will feature topics such as intellectual property\, telehealth and communicating science. More than 100 faculty will have their research posters displayed online in a virtual exhibit hall. All talks\, roundtables and posters will remain available online during the weeks after the event to allow for future viewing. \nThe Research Symposia Committee will announce soon the schedule.
