SUMMARY:Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site – National Bike Your Park Day
DESCRIPTION:The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American pilots in U.S. military service\, and the only ones in World War II. They became known as the Tuskegee Airmen because all of them received their primary\, basic\, and advanced pilot training near the city of Tuskegee\, Macon County. The Tuskegee Airmen of World War II successfully fought two wars\, one against overseas enemies\, and one against racism within the American military.\n––– Encyclopedia of Alabama \nWe’ll meet in Notasulga and do a 20-mile loop to the Site. Pretty easy on mostly back roads. The main attractions are two hangers\, plus Moton Field and displays. Hanger 1 is closed for HVAC repair but if it remains closed during our visit they will let us in\, anyway. We will be met by a ranger when we arrive.
