SUMMARY:Southern Exposure Films Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join the Office of Sustainability\, Alabama Rivers Alliance\, and Auburn Outdoors for a unique film screening event! Short documentary films created as part of the 2025 Southern Exposure Film Fellowship will be shown. These films were created over the Alabama Rivers Alliance’s 6-week summer program and present vibrant\, inspiring stories of how Alabama citizens have worked to preserve their state’s rich biodiversity.\n\nA social hour with local and visiting organizations will be held at 5:30PM\, with the films following at 6:30PM. Stick around for a post-screening Q&A session!\nThis event will be held on Wednesday\, April 1 at Pebble Hill. Enjoy film\, conversation\, s’mores\, and freshly popped popcorn! Don’t forget to bring your own mug for hot cocoa and tea!\n\nOur partners will be hosting fun activities too. DESCRIPTION:The Auburn University College of Forestry\, Wildlife and Environment’s Weaver Lecture Series proudly presents a lecture by Matthew Betts\, the Ruth Spaniol Chair of Natural Resources Conservation in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University\, on Thursday\, April 9\, at 2 p.m.\, immediately followed by a reception at the Forestry\, Wildlife and Environment Building located at 602 Duncan Drive\, Auburn\, Ala. \nSummarizing 18 years of research\, Betts’ lecture titled “Can we have our cake and eat it too? Conserving forest biodiversity in an age of humans.” will examine how forest management affects biodiversity across local\, landscape and global scales. Further\, Betts will address the broader question of how to satisfy global wood demand at the least cost to biodiversity and the climate.
