DESCRIPTION:Join Auburn Parks and Recreation for the first Eggcellent Easter Scavenger Hunt beginning Saturday\, March 27\, and ending Wednesday\, March 31. \nA clue will be posted on Facebook and Instagram each morning of the scavenger hunt leading participants to an Easter egg in one of our parks. Participants must then use their phones to scan the QR code on the Easter egg which will lead them to the next clue. To scan the QR code\, simply open your smartphone’s camera\, hover over the QR code\, and click the link that appears. \nWhen participants have found all of the clues within the park\, they will be prompted to enter their name into the drawing for one of five prizes. Each day you participate is a chance to earn another entry! \nFive lucky participants will win a $25 gift card to a local business. Winners will be drawn at random on Thursday\, April 1. Only one entry per person per day will be counted.

And take home a packet of seeds to get started. \nThe gardening workshop\, “In The Garden With Cyndi” taught by Cyndi Czerkawski\, is for adults and meets each month on a Sunday afternoon. The first class focuses on getting a garden prepped and ready for the spring growing season; the class includes seeds for attendees to take home. The cost is $20 per person per class or $150 for a 2021 annual pass to attend all the workshops for this year. \n“I believe gardening should be about the enjoyment of your gardens\,” Czerkawski said. “You’ll get interesting lessons with tons of tips and tricks that make gardening fun and easy. Gardening is a passion for me\, and my goal is for you to love gardening just as much.”

DESCRIPTION:Zakir Hussain is appreciated both in the field of percussion and in the music world at large as an international phenomenon and one of the greatest musicians of our time. A classical tabla virtuoso\, he has elevated the status of his instrument both in India and around the world. His consistently brilliant and exciting performances have established him as a national treasure in India and one of his country’s foremost cultural ambassadors. Zakir’s playing is marked by uncanny intuition and masterful improvisational dexterity\, founded in formidable knowledge and study.  \nWidely considered a chief architect of the contemporary world music movement\, Hussain’s many historic collaborations include Shakti\, the fusion band he founded with John McLaughlin and L. Shankar\, Remember Shakti\, Planet Drum with the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart\, and recordings and performances with artists as diverse as George Harrison\, Yo-Yo Ma\, Joe Henderson\, Van Morrison and Pharoah Sanders\, among many others.  \nA child prodigy\, Hussain was touring by the age of 12. In 1970\, he performed his first U.S. concert at the Fillmore East in New York City with Pandit Ravi Shankar\, embarking on an illustrious international career. In 1987\, his first solo release\, Making Music\, was acclaimed as “one of the most inspired East-West fusion albums ever recorded.” In 1992\, Planet Drum\, an album co-created and produced by Hussain and Mickey Hart\, became the first recording to win a Grammy in the Best World Music category.

DESCRIPTION:May 17-21 is National Bike to Work Week\, part of Bike Month sponsored by the League of American Bicyclists. The Auburn Bicycle Committee and the Auburn University Offices of Transportation Services and Sustainability would like to honor your personal commitment to eco-friendly transportation on National Bike to Work Day\, Friday 21 May. There will be two Energizer Stations on the AU campus where you can stop by\, chat with like-minded bike commuters\, and enjoy fresh coffee and donuts. You’re out there fighting in the streets for a better planet\, reward yourself with a little treat and the camaraderie of your fellow cycle commuters! \nThe stations will be located on Ross Square near Samford Hall\, and on South Donahue along the multi-use trail between Woodfield Drive and Lem Morrison Drive. Representatives from AU Transportation Services will be at both locations to provide an update on their E-Bike AU Initiative\, an electric bike-share program that will be starting up this coming fall. \nBring along a mug for your coffee and a mask to protect your fellow cyclists. DESCRIPTION:The Auburn University Water Resources Center is holding a free family-friendly Water Festival at the Davis E. Arboretum with water-related games and activities. Come meet local water conservation organizations like Alabama Water Watch\, Alabama Rivers Alliance\, and Coosa Riverkeeper. East Alabama Fly Fishing will have fly casting demonstrations and practice rods for kids. The Amsterdam food truck will have food and drinks available for purchase. \nThere will also be showings of the film “River Dreams” at 5:15 and again at 6:45.
