SUMMARY:Weigh the Waste
DESCRIPTION:The Waste Reduction and Recycling Department will be at the Tiger Zone dish return station on October 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. for the Weigh the Waste event. During the event\, all post-consumer food waste from returned dishes will be collected and weighed. Every 15 minutes\, the amount of food waste generated will be displayed\, along with the cumulative total for the evening. Stop by for dinner and see firsthand how much food is wasted when we take more than we can eat. \nTo encourage waste reduction\, Tiger Dining will hold a drawing for 10 prizes of $25 in dining dollars. Students who return their plates with no food waste between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. will be entered for a chance to win. \nWeigh the Waste is a hands-on educational event that helps raise awareness about the amount of post-consumer food waste generated in campus dining halls and encourages more mindful food choices.
