DESCRIPTION:Join Kreher guides for a peaceful morning walk as you take in the many sights and sounds of the Preserve.  Nature Walks offer excellent opportunities to socialize and learn while enjoying fresh air and exercise in our beautiful outdoors.\nNature Walks are for adults only and are offered on the second Thursday of each month from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. Pre-registration is not required. Each month features a new seasonal theme. Groups meet at the pavilion.\nNature Walks are free – donations are welcomed. This event will be canceled in the event of rain.

DESCRIPTION:The Auburn University College of Forestry\, Wildlife and Environment’s Weaver Lecture Series proudly presents a lecture by Matthew Betts\, the Ruth Spaniol Chair of Natural Resources Conservation in the Department of Forest Ecosystems and Society at Oregon State University\, on Thursday\, April 9\, at 2 p.m.\, immediately followed by a reception at the Forestry\, Wildlife and Environment Building located at 602 Duncan Drive\, Auburn\, Ala. \nSummarizing 18 years of research\, Betts’ lecture titled “Can we have our cake and eat it too? Conserving forest biodiversity in an age of humans.” will examine how forest management affects biodiversity across local\, landscape and global scales. Further\, Betts will address the broader question of how to satisfy global wood demand at the least cost to biodiversity and the climate.

Participants will gain insight into the materials\, techniques\, and historical contexts that define textile work in the region while considering how contemporary makers are reclaiming and reinterpreting these traditions today. \nThis program is made possible with support from the Alabama State Council on the Arts\, the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts\, and the Alice M.
