SUMMARY:Butterflies: Nature Art Series
DESCRIPTION:The KPNC teams up with Heather Jackson\, local artist\, to bring you a fun and educational art workshop series. Given there is a wide variety of wildlife and plants to see\, sketch\, and learn about\, she envisioned bringing community together through creating art in nature. Thus\, the idea for this Nature Art Series was born engaging the community in nature appreciation\, education\, and conservation through intentional creativity.

SUMMARY:Telling Our Stories: A Democracy & the Informed Citizen Program
DESCRIPTION:Members of the PACERS Newspaper Network have produced newspapers in the last year that document life and people in Pintlala\, Camp Hill\, Beatrice and Packer’s Bend. Intergenerational newspaper staff in each rural community edited and produced their papers. \nPulitzer Prize winning journalist Maura Casey feels strongly that rural communities must tell their own stories in this way\, so she’ll join us for the event. In addition to a keynote from Maura (10:30 – 11:15am)\, the event will include breakout sessions (1:00 – 3:00pm) organized by the PACERS Newspaper Network. \nOther partners include the David Mathews Center for Civic Life and the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts and Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts at Auburn University. \nNo registration fee is required.  Maura Casey’s 10:30am keynote address will also be livestreamed on the Alabama Humanities Alliance Facebook page.
