Science Pub

July 27, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Is a footprint a \'fossil\'? What about the sediment it left behind? Could you learn more from a creature\'s burrows than its bones? Bring your geoscience questions to the July Science Pub for the answers to these and how to learn about an animal just from where it\'s been. Beat the summer heat with our discussion of trace fossils: the dinosaur tracks\, trilobite trails\, and worm burrows that can be used to discover the secrets of a long-forgotten past!
This month\'s Science Pub will feature guest scientist Charles Savrda\, Professor in the Department of Geosciences giving a talk that is appropriate for all ages titled\, \'Trace Fossils: Dino Tracks\, Trilobite Trails\, and Worm Burrows.\'

The family friendly event is free and open to the public. No science background is required\, and no question is too silly to ask.
<p class=\'au_today_p\'>There is no cost to attend the Science Pub\, but proceeds from the purchase of each Drymarchon Berliner Weisse\, a drink featured at Red Clay\, will benefit the Alabama Natural Heritage Program at Auburn University and their efforts to conserve rare species in Alabama\, such as the Indigo snake.</p>
<p class=\'au_today_p\'>Sodas and pizza will also be available for purchase at the Science Pub.</p>
