International Culture Café Canada Highlight

September 27, 2018 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

The Auburn University International Cultural Center in the Office of International Programs dedicates each year to the study of a particular country or region to introduce the Auburn community to the rich variety of cultures around the globe. The 2018-19 academic year is the Year of Canada.
“The Year of Canada program is important to internationalizing Auburn’s campus and engaging local and global communities\,” said Adeola Fayemi\, manager of the International Cultural Center. “The cultural events help students break down stereotypes\, build connections across cultures and develop the intercultural competencies needed to be globally competitive and responsive in today’s complex interdependent world.”

In honor of Canada and its rich traditions\, the International Cultural Center invites Auburn University students\, faculty and staff and the wider community to join in the Year of Canada festivities throughout the month of September.

The International Culture Café is highlighting Canada with servings of traditional Canadian cuisine\, including Nanaimo bars\, a dessert that is named after the city of Nanaimo\, British Columbia on Vancouver Island.

In addition to the fall activities\, the International Cultural Center will be offering several Year of Canada events throughout the 2019 spring semester.
