Join the Geoscience Department in celebrating Geography Awareness Week November 12-18th focusing on the theme of “The Geography of Civil Rights Movements.” Established by a joint resolution of the U.S. Congress in 1987 and observed the third week in November every year\, Geography Awareness Week promotes what geography is\, why it is important\, and the relevance of a geographic education in preparing citizens to understand and debate pressing social and environmental issues and problems. This year’s celebration marks the 30th birthday of what has become an important tradition in our discipline.
 

GIS Day takes place on November 15th and will be celebrated throughout the country. At Auburn\, Austin Bush will be showcasing data collection using a Phantom 4 drone. There will games\, including map twister and a scavenger hunt\, prizes\, and free food\, drinks\, and snacks!
